I continue to believe that W+K is the best agency in the business. But this Starbucks effort is really bad. Embarrassing even. Starbucks used to almost brag that it built an empire without traditional advertising. Perhaps this campaign demonstrates their inexperience in the process.
I’ll stand by a comment I made at another blog. Starbucks didn’t need branding advertising. They’re getting hammered by price competitors (Dunkin’ Donuts and Mickey D’s). Starbucks would have better benefited from a 2-for-1 holiday promotion with starburst-filled coupons offering discounted drinks.
nah, the next one has the guys wife find him and the deer at the local notell motel... what a load of bad beans masquerading as Kona...
i agree wiith you on this one, Toad, they didn't that as much as holiday offer for more coffee for less money, like all their competition... it's not really that hard to make decent coffee and as everyone else applies themselves to that task, StarFucks is going to be under increasing pressure to prove their worth and TV spots aren't it...

ReplyDeleteThe next one has the guy hitting the deer with his SUV at the end of the day.
